The woman gave birth to a daughter and after 87 days to her twin sister: What do girls look like now

Maria and Chris Jones-Elliot were overjoyed upon learning they were expecting twin girls, a delightful addition to their family which already included a son and daughter, both excited for their new siblings.

The couple chose the names Amy and Katie for their daughters, anticipating their arrival in September. However, their plans took an unexpected turn when Maria, at 24 weeks pregnant, sensed the imminent arrival of her first twin. On June 1, she welcomed Amy into the world, who, despite her premature birth at just 540 grams, was in relatively good health. Remarkably, Katie decided to stay in the womb a while longer, arriving 87 days later on August 27, 2012, at a healthier 2550 grams and 44 centimeters.

Despite their staggered arrivals, the sisters went home around the same time, with Amy having gained significant weight but still smaller than Katie. Their unique birth story captivated journalists and earned them a spot in the Guinness Book of Records for the longest interval between the birth of twins.

Celebrating two distinct birthdays, Amy and Katie each receive well-wishes and gifts on their respective days. By their first year, Amy nearly matched Katie in developmental milestones, though their personalities differed distinctly.

Now at eight and seven years old, respectively, with Katie soon to join her sister in age, the twins are thriving in elementary school, excelling academically and supporting each other. Their schoolbags bear their names to assist teachers and classmates in distinguishing them, yet their parents recognize numerous unique traits that set Amy and Katie apart, despite being born 87 days apart.
