Ohio Woman Feels ‘Whole’ After Becoming A Mother At 49 Following Multiple Miscarriages

At 49, Kris Monsour of Canal Winchester, Ohio, embraced motherhood by adopting a newborn, a journey that she describes as fulfilling her destiny. Now 51, Kris faced a challenging path to parenthood, enduring a decade-long struggle and two miscarriages before adopting her daughter Ainsley in 2020, investing $19,000 in the adoption process.

Kris, determined to become a mother despite a doctor’s discouraging prognosis, kept her hope alive over the years. An unexpected opportunity arose when a distant relative inquired if Kris and her entrepreneur husband, Clay, were still considering parenthood and suggested adoption.

Embracing the chance, the couple actively participated in the birth mother’s pregnancy, with Kris being present at key moments, including the birth and even cutting the umbilical cord. Despite facing criticism on social media for her age, Kris finds solace in the support from family and friends who have wholeheartedly accepted Ainsley.

Kris plans to be open with Ainsley about her adoption and remains focused on cherishing every moment with her daughter. She actively counters the negative feedback by sharing her motherhood journey on TikTok, where she also contributes her earnings to the Fairfield Foster Closet, a charity supporting foster and adopted children.

Kris’s story highlights the challenges and triumphs of late-in-life motherhood, underscoring the power of resilience, love, and the importance of focusing on the present, irrespective of life’s uncertainties.
